Rules, Regulations & Conditions.

1. Dancing is a disciplined art form and requires a serious approach. Students are expected to arrive 5–10 minutes before class to allow enough time to warm up and get dressed. Any student arriving more than 10 minutes late will not be allowed to participate in that class.

2. Correct dance attire is essential for observing proper muscle use and body posture. Each style and level has specific requirements. Students who are not dressed in the correct attire will not be permitted to participate in class.

3. No eating is allowed during class. Students may have a water break, so please ensure they bring a water bottle.

4. Please, no interruptions during class. All administrative matters can be discussed via WhatsApp message. Or after classes.

5. If you are unsure about any aspect (uniform, fees, class times, your child’s progress, etc.), please first check the messages posted on the WhatsApp group. If the information is not there, you are welcome to contact me via WhatsApp, text, or email. Written communication is preferred over phone calls so that both parties have a clear record of what was discussed.

6. Please do not use your child as a messenger. If you have any questions or concerns, contact me directly. Students often pass on information incorrectly, which leads to misunderstandings.

7. If your child will not be attending class, kindly notify me in advance. This is a matter of respect and courtesy, and it helps me plan the lessons more effectively.

8. Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated—this applies to both students and parents in their interactions with each other

9. If a dancer is absent from lessons during the 4-week preparation period for examinations or Showcase without providing a valid doctor’s certificate, they will forfeit the opportunity to participate in that event.

10. Attendance at full-dress rehearsals is compulsory for all Competition and concerts.

Any student who misses it will not be allowed to participate in the event, even if payment has already been made.

11. A Focus on regular class attendance needs to be a priority if you'd like for your dancer to participate in our yearly ballet exams.

12. The purpose of an examination is to determine whether a student is ready to progress to the next level. A student may remain in the same level for up to two years.

13. The teacher reserves the right to refuse a dancer’s participation in any event. Dancers must be in good physical, mental, emotional, and technical condition to take part.

14. Students represent the studio. If a student is not adequately prepared or does not know their work, they may be withdrawn from the event.

15. Please coordinate with a relevant lift club to ensure dancers are collected on time. Classes are scheduled back-to-back. There will be no supervision available after class.

16. You are welcome to observe your child’s progress during the last lesson of the term only. We usually host a Parents week for you to come and observe. Parents/guardians are not permitted during other lessons, as this can cause distractions for the students.

17. All competition details will be communicated via WhatsApp. Dancers will have sufficient time to decide and prepare. There are multiple competitions available, and participation is optional and at your own cost.

18. Participation in competitions is entirely optional. Competing is not a requirement at Dancing to Victory; it is an additional opportunity we offer to students.

19. A Competition Choreography Fee will be charged, covering 6–8 lessons (30 minutes–1 hour each) depending on the student’s level. Time slots can be booked to work on the choreography for the routine.

20. The choreography is the property of the studio and is protected by copyright.

No changes may be made to the choreography without the teacher’s consent.

21. Any student wishing to enter a competition using the studio’s choreography must have their entry signed off by the teacher beforehand.

22. Payment for entries is usually required two weeks prior to the competition date or by the specific deadline set by the organizers. Failure to pay on time will result in the student not being entered into the competition.

23. If a competition student attends a “Polishing” class and does not remember their routine, they will automatically be scratched from that event.

24. Dancing to Victory hosts a Showcase every second year. Allowing students to grow in their skills.

25. Concert Date: We want to host our showcases during the beginning of the year or mid year. Allowing enough time for dancers to properly prepare for ballet exams.

For 2027, we will have a showcase.

26. Professional photos will be available at an additional cost. More information regarding these fees will be provided closer to the event.

27. If your child withdraws from a Competition or the concert within a 2 week of the event, you will be responsible for any expenses already incurred, as well as a penalty of R150.

28. Please note that no ticket refunds will be given for unused tickets.

29. Ensure that all details on the agreement are accurately completed and that you have read every page. No student will be allowed in the studio without a signed contract from the Parent, Guardian, or Adult student.

30. Please note that it is your responsibility to keep me updated if your personal details change.

31. All statements will be sent via email, so kindly ensure that your contact details are correct.

32. If you have any questions regarding your monthly statement, please correspond WhatsApp—do not call. Be sure to include proof of payment if you believe a payment is missing.

33. The primary form of communication is through a WhatsApp group.

34. Throughout the year, photos of your child may be taken during class and shared in the WhatsApp group. Occasionally, these photos may also be used for advertising or publicity, only if you have given permission in the contract.

For the purposes of recognizing students’ achievements, only the following information will be used in articles: the student’s first name, surname, photo, and achievement—provided that permission was granted in the contract.

35. All information provided, collected in this document, or given to us will be handled confidentially and used only for legal and administrative purposes. By providing your information, you consent to its processing in accordance with these terms.

General Rules regarding Ballet exams/Participation in dance competitions.

1. Only students who have developed the and achieved the ballet grade techniques will be allowed to participate in ballet exams.

2. In order for your child to participate in ballet examinations, they will need to consistently attend two classes per week. If your child has to miss a class they are required to practice at home and come well rehearsed for the following class.

3. If your child is ill and not contagious or if they are injured and unable to dance, they will be required to attend and watch their lesson. If your child is booked off by the medical profession we will understand.

4. Students who have participated in the 2026 ballet exams automatically qualify to participate in competitions.

Attendance Policy for showcase:

Regular attendance is crucial for dancers to remain in shape/avoid injury and progress at the expected rate. In addition, showcase choreography begins in January in all of our dance classes and regular attendance is extremely important for students to learn class choreography.

Pre Dance 1, 2 and Creative Pre Primary dancers are expected to attend regularly all season to remain eligible to perform in the Showcase, but there is no set number of absences for these levels. Parents will be contacted if attendance becomes a concern for younger students.

Occasionally, when younger dancers are absent a couple weeks in a row, they become hesitant to return to class at all due to the disruption in their routine. Please reach out and let us know if your dancer is experiencing any hesitation in returning to class; we are here to help!

The three weeks prior to the showcase are absolutely mandatory except in the event of contagious condition or graded school event. Dancers who are absent the three weeks prior to the show may be pulled from their class dance if the instructor deems it more beneficial for the class as a whole. Dancers work very hard to retain their choreography, and it puts extra pressure on their classmates when students are routinely absent. We thank you for realizing how important regular attendance is, and assure you that your dancer will be very glad they put in the time and effort when the big day arrives! If dancers “miss” new choreography, it is their responsibility to learn what they’ve missed. We sometimes record new choreography, but dancers should NOT rely on videos–we recommend keeping a “choreography notebook” to write down choreography and meeting with friends before the next class to review what was missed. (Pre dance 1,2, creative pre-primary and primary; not applicable)

Picture day, full cast rehearsals, and dress rehearsals are mandatory for all levels/classes. Dancers who are absent from any full cast or dress rehearsal are not permitted to perform in the show. If you experience an emergency the day of a rehearsal, contact Simone ASAP. Dancers may not leave full cast or dress rehearsals earlier than their designated dismissal time (All levels/classes).

Please review all dates and times carefully. Full Cast and Dress Rehearsals are absolutely mandatory.

Dancing to victory will not be responsible for students outside of class times.

Dancing to victory does not accept responsibility, direct or indirect, and will not be held liable for any accident, death, injuries, illness, damage, and/or losses suffered by you and/or the student during dance lessons, rehearsals, performances, functions and outings and you hereby agree to in demnify and hold harmless dancing to victory studio in the event of any such occurrences.

Financial Responsibilities:

1. Students who have not attended classes for the past three (3) months will be considered new students upon their return.

2. A annual registration fee of R150 is due on or before the 31st of December to ensure your dancers spot. If you have registered your dancer during the 3rd term of 2026 this will not be applicable to you.

Registration fees are payable on the day of enrolment and strictly to a student’s first class. The registration fee guarantees your child’s place at dancing to victory. The registration fee also includes a medal (on which they will receive in the end of year prize giving as well as certificate of completion & access to studio app) & Admin administration costs.

3. Dance fees are payable in advance — on or before the 5th day of each month.

4. Class fees are calculated over the entire year and divided equally into four terms.

5. Fees are payable for 11 months. regardless of school holidays.

6. Classes run according to the public school term calendar. No classes are held during public school holidays, unless otherwise stipulated.

Term 1: 04 January – 19 March
(Competition students will still train from the first week of the term, contact your teacher to book your slots.)

Term 2: 05 April – 25 June
(Exam students will still train during the holiday, last week of the holiday)

Term 3: 19 July – 24 September
(Ballet Exam Students will still train during the school holiday.)

Term 4: 04 October – 30 November

6. One Week Of Christmas: 01 Dec - 08 Dec. (This is not compulsory only for the students who signed up for this fun week of celebration.)

7. Fees are payable by EFT only. No cash payments will be accepted.

8. Reference: Please use your unique Acc Code as payment reference.

9. Fees paid will first be allocated to class fees, then to other costs (exams, competitions, etc.).

10. Sibling discount: A 15% discount is given for siblings.

11. Dance fees do not include:

Examination fees.

Examination attire.

Competitions.

Showcase fees.

Showcase costumes.

12. If payment is not received by the due date, a reminder email will be sent.

13. If the account remains unsettled within 5 working days, the student will be suspended from classes until payment is made.

14. No student with outstanding fees will be allowed to take part in Exams, Competitions, or Concerts.

15. Full class fees remain payable even if your child does not attend class.

16. No refunds will be made in the case of accidental double payments, the double payment will beheld in your account as credit.

17. Parents are responsible for any fees related to property damaged or lost by their child or driver.

18. Please ensure payments are made to the correct account.

19. A one-month written notice (via email to [email protected]) is required if a student discontinues classes.

20. Without written notice, full fees remain payable even if the student does not attend.

21. If classes become unaffordable or inconvenient, please notify the teacher immediately via email.

Ballet Fee & Clothes Structure:

Registration Fee: R150 per student.

1. Pre Dance 1 & 2 Ballet Class Fees (30 min Class Once a week.)
- Pre Dance 1 & 2 are R220 per month (from January - November 2027.)

Clothing Requirements:
-Turquoise Studio Leotard & Circle Skirt.
-Ballet stockings for performances, Alternative for practice ankle ballet socks. & Pink ballet shoes.
- Hair neatly tied back. ( Bun, French Braid, Or ponytail.)

2. Creative Pre Primary fees. (30 min Class Once a week)
- Creative Pre Primary are R240 Per month (from January - November.)

Additional Costs: Ballet Exams.

Clothing Requirements:
-Turquoise Studio Leotard & Circle Skirt.
-Pink Ballet Stockings, Alternative for practice, pink ballet anklets. & Pink ballet shoes.
- Hair neatly tied back (Bun, French braid, or ponytail.)

3. Primary Ballet fees. (45 min class twice a week.)
- Primary are R265 Per Month (from January - November.)
- Optional to have class once a week if it clashes with schedule but the ideal is for your dancer to have two lessons per week at this level. (contact Simone directly if this is something you want to consider as the prices will differ slightly.)

Additional cost: Ballet Exams & Competitions.

Clothing Requirements:
-Turquoise Leotard & Circle Skirt.
- Pink Ballet Stockings & Ballet shoes.
-hair neatly tied back (Bun, French Braid, or Ponytail.)

4. Grade 1 Fees. (45 min class twice a week.)
- Grade 1 are R365 Per Month (From January - November.)

Additional Fees: Ballet Exams & Competitions.

Clothing Requirements:
- Turquoise Leotard & Circle Skirt.
- Pink Ballet Stockings & Pink Ballet shoes.
- Hair neatly tied back in ballet bun.

5. Grade 2 - 3 Fees. (Grade 2, 50min class, Grade 3, 60min class, twice a week.)
- Grade 2 are R365 Per month (from January - November.)
-Grade 3 are R365 Per month (From January - November)

Additional fees: ballet exams & competitions.

Clothing requirement:
-Navy Blue Leotard & Wrap Skirt.
-Pink Ballet stockings & ballet shoes.
-hair tied in a bun or neatly out of face.

6. Grade 4 fees. (60min class twice a week & additional pre pointe class.)
- Grade 4 are R395 Per month (From January - November.)

Additional Fees: Ballet Exams & Competitions.

Clothing Requirements:
Still to be confirmed.
-Pink Ballet Stockings & shoes.
-Hair neatly tied out of face.

Additional Acrobatics class fees.(60 min once a week.)
- Mix level class R280.
- 10% discount for Full Value Package classes. (2x ballet classes, 1x Acro classes.)

Additional fees: Acrobatic exams (optional).
Once off Payment to buy students app level to practice at home - R400.

Clothing Requirement:
-Leotard & Ski-pants short/long.
-Yoga mat for practice.
- Water bottle for water breaks.

Classification of Disciplines & Add-On Class Policies

1. Definition of Core vs. Add-On Curriculum
The studio operates on a foundational training model where classical ballet serves as the primary, standalone core discipline. Acrobatics is strictly classified as a Technical Add-On Discipline. Because acrobatics lacks a standalone movement vocabulary and focuses purely on high-impact physical execution (tricks, tumbling, and aerials), it cannot be taken as a solo or primary style of dance at this studio.

2. Co-Requisite Enrollment Requirement
Admission into, and maintenance of a spot in, any Acrobatics class is strictly conditional upon the student being concurrently enrolled in, paying for, and actively attending the required core Ballet Technique curriculum.
• Minimum Entry Requirement: One (1) weekly Ballet Technique class.
• Recommended High-Performance Stream: Two (2) weekly Ballet Technique classes.

3. Structural Restrictions & Progression
Acrobatics classes focus heavily on the physical execution of advanced skills and do not allocate class time to teaching foundational dance transitions, posture, alignment, or joint-shock absorption. Students who do not study the core ballet curriculum lack the necessary biomechanical foundation (eccentric muscle control, ankle tracking, and core stabilization) to progress safely. For the physical safety of the student and to prevent severe impact-related injuries, independent acrobatics enrollment is strictly prohibited.

4. Discontinuation of Core Classes
Should a parent or guardian elect to withdraw a student from their mandatory Ballet Technique class(es) at any point during the season, the student will be automatically and immediately deregistered from the Acrobatics class. Normal cancellation notice periods will still apply to the financial accounts, and no tuition refunds or credits will be issued for the remaining acrobatics slots.

All students, teachers and parents will adhere to the studio “general rules” for their own safety and out of respect for others and the premises used.
